Fire Stopping Survey Programmes for Multi-Site Portfolios

Last reviewed:

A portfolio survey programme brings fire stopping and compartmentation surveys for all your buildings under one plan, one point of contact and one report format. Fire Stopping Surveys, a trading name of RiSKFiX LLP, runs these programmes UK-wide. You send us your building list; we propose a programme with a fixed fee per building and schedule surveys around your operations. Because every building is surveyed the same way, you can compare findings across the whole estate.

Celebrating 10 years of RiSKFiX

Who are portfolio programmes for?

Programmes suit any organisation responsible for more than a handful of buildings: NHS trusts and healthcare providers, care groups, housing providers, education trusts, defence estates, hotel and leisure groups, office and retail portfolios, and the managing agents who look after them.

Buildings can be spread across the UK. We schedule nationally, so the postcode does not change who you deal with or how the survey is done.

How does a programme run?

  1. You send your building list: addresses, building use, number of storeys, floor areas, and any existing fire risk assessments, fire strategies and plans.
  2. We propose a programme and a fixed fee per building.
  3. Surveys are scheduled around your operations, including out-of-hours visits and school holidays where needed.
  4. We use the same survey method and report format on every building.
  5. Your Responsible Persons and Fire Risk Assessors review the findings and decide priorities.
  6. If you want them, we arrange remedial works through third-party-certificated installers.

Why does one survey method matter?

When different contractors survey different buildings, findings are described in different ways, photographs are taken to different standards and reports are laid out differently. That makes it hard to see the true picture across an estate.

On a programme, every surveyor works to the same method and every report follows the same format. Observations are photographed, located and described consistently, so a finding in one building means the same as a finding in another.

What does a single point of contact do?

You have one named contact for the whole programme. They agree the schedule with you, keep site contacts informed, chase access issues, and tell you where each building is in the programme. You do not need to manage several contractors or several sets of paperwork.

How do we schedule surveys nationally?

We group buildings by area so surveyors can work efficiently, and plan around the constraints of each site: clinical areas, sleeping accommodation, term dates, guest areas, tenant access and secure zones. Where a survey finds an urgent issue, we give it priority in reporting so you hear about it quickly.

Programmes can be one-off or long-term, for example re-surveying a set number of buildings each year as your fire risk assessments direct.

What helps a programme run smoothly?

  • A named site contact for each building
  • Agreed access windows, including out-of-hours where needed
  • Permits to work and induction requirements, sent in advance
  • Escorts for secure, clinical or occupied areas
  • Asbestos registers for the areas we will access
  • Floor plans and fire strategies where they exist

None of this has to be perfect before we start. We will work through gaps with you and record any access limits in each report.

What do you get?

A digital report for each building, all in the same format, with every observation photographed, located, described and given a recommended remedy. We report what we find; your Responsible Persons and Fire Risk Assessors decide priorities. The reports are records of observation, not certificates.

Frequently asked questions

How do we start a portfolio programme?

Send us your building list with addresses, building use, storeys, floor areas and any existing fire risk assessments, fire strategies and plans. We come back with a proposed programme, usually within 24 hours for a quote.

Do you charge per building?

Yes. We propose a fixed fee per building, so you know the cost of the programme before it starts.

Can you work around our operations?

Yes. We schedule around clinical areas, sleeping accommodation, term dates, guest areas and tenant access, including out-of-hours visits.

Will every building get the same report format?

Yes. Every surveyor uses the same method and every report follows the same format.

Who decides what gets fixed first?

Your Responsible Persons and Fire Risk Assessors. We report what we find and do not rank priorities.

Can you arrange remedial works across the portfolio?

Yes, if you want them. Works are delivered by third-party-certificated passive fire protection installers.
